I’m the Group Digital Editor of BBC Wildlife and BBC Countryfile Magazines, and a freelance writer based in Bristol in the UK.

Specialising in the outdoors, travel and fitness, I have ten years’ experience in writing for national publications, both in print and online – including The Guardian, Outdoor Fitness & Adventure, BBC Countryfile Magazine, In the Moment, Cooler Magazine, Outside Times, Women’s Running, Women’s Cycling, BikeRadar and Runner’s World.

I’m skilled in digital publishing and strategy, and have a proven track-record in building digital audiences across multi-platforms. I’ve worked on a number of website relaunches for both B2B and B2C titles, including Startups.co.uk, edie.net and Women’s Running UK. Since managing the SEO and content strategy of the BBC websites countryfile.com and discoverwildlife.com, which support the monthly print magazines and popular TV show, organic traffic, referrals and direct traffic have grown considerably. I follow the latest digital trends and algorithm updates to make sure our website content consistently ranks on the first page of search.

Social media management is another area I have expertise in – I previously managed London Marathon Events and World Marathon Majors social media. In this role, I created an innovative social media strategy, which helped bring these world-class events to a global audience.

Away from the desk, I’m a silversmith and make minimalist silver jewellery inspired by nature using eco silver and ethically-sourced gemstones. Check out Carys Rhian Jewellery to see my collection.

I love to travel and explore new places – both in the UK and overseas, although more recently I have made an effort to fly less and embrace slow travel. I’m happiest outdoors and can often be found hiking, running or wild swimming in the countryside on my weekends.
